She founded the Portland (Oregon) Ukulele Association in 2001, and has been teaching ukulele, organizing events, and proselytizing full time for well over a decade. Marianne teaches in her home town and at music camps and festivals.
Her passion for teaching music on the ukulele led her to create the former Portland Uke Fest, Ukulele Band Camp in the Columbia Gorge, and most recently, the Port Townsend Ukulele Festival, now in its fifth iteration.
Marianne graduated from Reed College where she majored in Psychology.
She spent many years in project management in the high tech industry and in higher education, experience she draws on in organizing ukulele events.
