The Young Artists Project brings workshops, exhibits, performances to Fort Worden State Park that:

• Engage young artists in the world of arts and ideas
• Promote creative risk-taking
• Make new artists

Centrum’s Young Artists Project offers dynamic opportunities for high-school students, as well as middle school and elementary school students. Produced in partnership with Washington’s Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Project brings young artists to Fort Worden State Park to live and learn with some of the most interesting artists working in the Pacific Northwest.

At the heart of the Young Artists Project is its Core Artist Faculty. The Core Faculty plays a special role in the Project. These vital, contemporary artists guide and inspire young artists throughout the year. They also explore and create new work while in residence at Fort Worden.

Centrum has gathered young artists and teachers together at Fort Worden for more than three decades. To experience Centrum is to live and work with great artists and a community of peers who share your passion, curiosity, and willingness to take risks. The line blurs between work and play; at Centrum you’ll find an intensity of experience and depth in community not possible in everyday life.
