Fort Worden is home to an impressive literary community. As the preeminent independent publisher of poetry, Copper Canyon Press  fosters the work of emerging, established, and world-renowned poets for an expanding audience.

Goddard College offers a low-residency MFA in Creative Writing at Fort Worden. Goddard
College’s low-residency programs are committed to self-directed
education. Students may choose to work in the areas of
poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, memoir, playwriting,
screenwriting, or cross genre.

The Centrum hosts residential writing workshops year-round, hosting the Port Townsend Writers’ Conference, as well as smaller, focused, literary gatherings.
