Mornings at the PTWC

Chris Abani2 One of the goals that we have set for next year's Port Townsend Writers' Conference, happening July 18-25, 2010, is having tracks available for writers at all levels.

Workshops for beginning writers or more experienced writers who want to come to Port Townsend to create new work in an inspiring, supportive atmosphere, will include the workshops of fiction writer Ana Menéndez, fiction writer Micheline Aharonian Marcom, nonfiction writer Denise Chávez, poet Martín Espada, and travel writer Tom Miller,

Workshops for more experienced writers will include the revision workshops of fiction writer Chris Abani (pictured), and poet Dana Levinalthough much generative work will also happen in those workshops, as well.

The workshop of nonfiction writer Bich Minh Nguyen (leading a master class) is only for those writers who have a piece of nonfiction writing (personal essay or memoir excerpt) that they would like to revise under her guidance.

Also returning in 2010: Ellie Mathews's legendary morning freewrites. Happening each morning from 7 to 8 am, these morning exercises focus on unlocking the writing voice at the beginning of the day.

The Port Townsend Writers' Conference is an intense, week-long full-immersion experience in the writing life. Registration is available here, as well as by calling 360.385.3102, x117 or 360.385.3102, x131. We're also available at that final extension to assist you with any questions or help you decide on the most appropriate option.
