Madrona MindBody Institute invites you to join Zorina Wolf of Village
HeartBeat in a 4-week "Whole Person Rhythm" series each Saturday in March, and rediscover your innate rhythmic self.
Zorina Wolf is considered to be America's preeminent
TaKeTiNa Teacher. She trained for 14-years under the tutelage
of Babatunde Olatunji and leads African rhythm and drumming workshops
of all sizes. She also founded the drumming/dance/educational group Village
Heartbeat.
When you join the rhythm circle, you are gently guided into using your
body as the first instrument that “plays” with 3 different rhythmic
layers: stepping, clapping or playing drums, and
vocalization/chanting. Each person develops a deep understanding of
rhythm in his or her own timing. As you relax into learning at your own
pace, the group can create space for deeper intuitive understanding,
self-discovery, and quiet calm.
Sessions will be held Saturdays 4-6pm, March 6th – March 27th, 2010. Each week will focus on a different
aspect of rhythm: beat, offbeat, simple and complex cycles. Neither musical training nor drums are required, but curiosity is a welcome ally.
