July Chamber Music Festival in Port Townsend

Chamber music has long been a staple of Centrum's summer performance season, and 2010 is no exception. Artistic Director Lucinda Carver has put together an outstanding series of events for the Port Townsend Chamber Music Festival, held July 15-17.

Calder Quartet

We are proud to welcome the
Calder Quartet, one of America's most exciting chamber ensembles. The group was awarded the 2009 ASCAP Adventurous Programming
Award in recognition of its exciting programming and collaborations.

The Calder Quartet (with Lucinda Carver) will perform works by Mozart, Frith, and Schumann on Thursday, July 15. On Friday, July 16, the Quartet will perform the work of Haydn, Janácĕk, and Beethoven.

On Saturday, July 17, will showcase 'Masters of the Baroque' at a new performance space – the stunning Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Sanctuary in Port Townsend. Carver, Sue Feldman, Leif Woodward, and Courtney Huffman will perform arias by Handel, an instrumental masterwork by Bach, and a chamber cantata by Vivaldi.

Classical musicians will also be able to work with our Baroque specialists in a one-day performance techniques class on the 17th.
