Shantala Kirtan June 18 at Madrona MindBody Institute


Kirtan Madrona MindBody Institute celebrates the power of the Kirtan (sacred chanting) on Friday, June 18 at Fort Worden with award-winning international artists Heather and Benjy Werthiemer (Shantala).

The evening begins at 8pm and will feature Port Townsend guest musicians Joe Breskin (guitar), David Michael (celtic harp), and Brent Kuecker (bass). Together, the group will to create a soundscape of musical harmony between East and West.

According to Heather Wertheimer, call and response chanting with Shantala is fun, uplifting, and
inspiring.

"The evening is open to all with a special invitation for active audience participation. Our music carries you through a journey of etheric beauty, ecstatic percussion, and singing with the devotion of the heart. It is a celebration of life, love, and the beauty of the human spirit."

Advance ticket sales are available through Madrona MindBody (in house and online) and Quimper Sound in downtown Port Townsend. Advance tickets are $18; $24 at the door.

Bring a pillow or a cushion for seating – some chairs will be available.
