Hello from the Volunteer Coordinator!

Hello Centrum Volunteers, present and future!

I’m so excited to be joining the Centrum team as its Volunteer Coordinator this season.  Just as every other Port Townsend resident, I have long been a fan of this dynamic organization, its mission, and its plentiful programs; I am honored to now be a part of it.

To tell you a bit about myself, I am originally from the Los Angeles area but have been living here in the Northwest for the past eight years.  After visiting Port Townsend seasonally since 2005 I finally made the decision to move to this vibrant community in February of 2010.  My background is in the arts, with a degree in Art History from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Ore.  Initially working in museum education at the Getty and Portland Art Museums,  I continued my career in the arts through the founding and running of an affordable art shop in Portland.  Since moving to Port Townsend I have worked at Artisans on Taylor Gallery and worked with Sue Cook at the NW Maritime Center, aiding her in scheduling the volunteers for the 2010 Wooden Boat Festival.

Most recently though, I have had the pleasure of working with Centrum’s own Young Artist’s Project as a dorm counselor and assistant to Martha Worthley during the Explorations and Water World camps.  It was through these fantastic programs that I was able to experience firsthand Centrum’s lasting, positive effects on both its participants as well as its community.

I am thrilled to be able to meet and work with all of Centrum’s amazing volunteers as the 2011 season begins.  Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or just to say ‘hello’ at volunteer@centrum.org
