Jazz Port Townsend – New Faculty Member

Jazz Port Townsend is pleased to announce the addition of a new faculty member to the 2011 lineup.

Veteran saxophonist Bill Ramsay is joining John Clayton’s stellar roster of instructors for the weeklong workshops.  Ramsey will also be performing with the Centrum Faculty All-Star Big Band, as part of the gala Saturday, July 30 1:30 p.m. concert, featuring the music of Bill Holman, and soloist and fellow NEA Jazz Master Paquito D’Rivera.

Baritone saxophonist Bill Ramsay is among Seattle's busiest musicians.  He co-leads the Ramsay-Kleeb band, and is the baritone sparkplug of the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra. He spent two years as a member of the Count Basie Orchestra, and is a veteran of many of the nation's outstanding big bands, including the bands of Thad Jones, Grover Mitchell, Cab Calloway, Mel Lewis, Gene Harris, Quincy Jones, and the Benny Goodman Octet. He was inducted to the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame in 1997.
