Jazz Port Townsend Welcomes Jeff Hamilton Trio

The Jeff Hamilton Trio – drummer Jeff Hamilton, bassist Christoph Luty, and pianist Tamir Hendelman – has been recording and performing together for nearly 10 years, and in 2011 are celebrating the release of their ninth album, “Symbiosis.”

Composer, bandleader, clinician, and veteran drummer Jeff Hamilton has performed with Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Monty Alexander, Diana Krall, Ray Brown, and a long list of other jazz luminaries. Hamilton is co-founder of the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, with bassist John Clayton and alto saxophonist Jeff Clayton, and also performs with the Clayton Brothers Quintet.

Bassist Christoph Luty – a protégé of John Clayton’s, is known for is known for his big, natural sound, melodic bass lines and solos, and articulate arco playing.

Israeli born virtuoso pianist Tamir Hendelman has performed with Harry Allen, Jeff Clayton, Nick Brignola, Phil Upchurch, and Barbara Morrison to name a few, and also leads his own trio.

Together they for the Jeff Hamilton Trio, a group of astonishing grace and chemistry. See them live at Jazz Port Townsend on Friday night, July 29 at 7:30 p.m. in McCurdy Pavilion.
