Friday, July 8 – Country Cajun Stomp

Marc and Anne Savoy

Centrum’s Festival of American Fiddle Tunes begins its finale weekend tonight at 6:00 PM on the lawn at Littlefield Green with a “Country-Cajun Stomp” – a dance featuring country and Cajun all-star festival faculty.

Marc and Ann Savoy and family are serving up a hot gumbo of Cajun favorites and traditional rhythms.  The legendary first family of Cajun music includes sons Joel and Wilson, as well as special guests from among the festival faculty.

Plus, country-roots band Marley’s Ghost will be joined by fiddle virtuoso and Balfa family member Courtney Granger in a showcase of country swing and Americana dance tunes.

The dance begins at 6:00 PM on the lawn at Littlefield Green.  General admission tickets are just $15, and are still available by calling 800.746.1982, or clicking on the “Buy Tickets” link above.  Tickets are also available at the McCurdy Pavilion box office one hour prior to the performance, at the main entrance of the lawn.

And make plans now to join five winners of the prestigious National Heritage Award, in concert at McCurdy Pavilion, tomorrow, July 9 at 1:30 PM.  Contradance caller Dudley Laufman and family, Swedish virtuoso Paul Dahlin and family, Cajun icon Marc Savoy and his family, Irish fiddle champion Liz Carroll with guitarist John Doyle, and guitarist and master luthier Wayne Henderson, will perform in a gala celebration of recognized American treasures.  It’s an historic lineup, not to be missed!  Reserved seating is still available starting at just $17.
