Helga Winter Hosts Centrum Studio Benefit

Port Townsend-based painter and wood turner Helga Winter displays “From Tree to Treasure,” an open-studio benefit show happening Friday, November 23 from 12-5 pm and Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 10 to 5 pm.

Winter, who has been working as a wood tuner since 1982, was an artist-in-residence at Centrum in January, 2010.

Since that time, she has moved to a larger studio and now regularly works and shows as a two-dimensional painter, as well as a wood turner. Her open studio will feature many of her “spheroids”–organically shaped, hollow orbs of different sizes, all painted in Winter’s signature style.

Winter’s uptown Port Townsend studio is located at 508 Lawrence Street. She is generously donating 20% of the show’s total sales to Centrum.
