Jazz Port Townsend – The Workshop

Join us July 24 – 30th, 2023!

Centrum’s Jazz Port Townsend workshop is open to instrumentalists and singers high school-aged and above. Approximately 200 participants focus on developing improvisational skills in a small group setting. Master classes and performances are given each day by over 30 world-class faculty, all hand-picked by Artistic Director John Clayton. The week culminates in a series of concerts in which all participants have an opportunity to perform.

The workshop features immersive COACHING, MASTERCLASSES, INDIVIDUAL COMBOS, DAILY JAM SESSIONS, FACULTY PERFORMANCES, SPECIAL TOPIC CLASSES, AND MORE.

THERE ARE THREE WAYS TO PARTICIPATE:

2) IN-PERSON, EDUCATOR’S TRACK
3) ONLINE


IN-PERSON. INSTRUMENTAL, or VOCAL TRACK:

$850 tuition includes all workshop activities and concerts held July 24-30, 2023.

Auditions are required. Visit our Jazz Port Townsend Auditions page  for instructions.

Financial aid is available; apply as you register.

Workshop housing and meal plans: Add dorm room with all meals, $675, or meals only, $350.
Airport charter bus: $120 round trip or $60 one-way.

Refund policy: A $325 deposit is required. This deposit is non-refundable, with two exceptions. 1) You’ve applied for financial aid and are unable to attend because we cannot award your full request, or 2) your audition is not accepted, in which case you will receive a full refund. No housing refunds after April 20, 2023. No refunds of any kind are available after June 30, 2023.


IN-PERSON. EDUCATOR TRACK:

$200 tuition includes a mixture of focused workshop sessions, plus general sessions and concerts, July 26-30, 2023.

Auditions are not required for this track. Financial aid is available; apply as you register.

Workshop housing and meal plans: Add dorm room with all meals, $475, or meals only, $225.

Refund policy: Tuition is non-refundable and due upon registration. No housing refunds after April 20, 2023. No refunds of any kind are available after June 30, 2023.


ONLINE:

$200 tuition includes multiple classes and exclusive faculty jam sessions each day streamed utilizing Centrum’s 4K video and audio broadcast capabilities. Auditions are not required. Fee is non-refundable.
