Centrum is proud to announce the creation of the Northwest Heritage Residencies, made possible through a National Endowment for the Arts “Our Town” grant. This program will be presented by Centrum in partnership with Fort Worden Public Development Authority (PDA) to support the exploration of place through arts and culture.
Between 2019 and 2020, the Northwest Heritage Residencies will welcome six artists and makers to develop new work in visual art, music, writing, crafts, history, or ecology, with motifs aligning the arts with nature, Native American history, resilience, or history. Residencies will vary in length, with accommodations and facilities provided at the Fort Worden campus. In addition to dedicated time for their work, each resident artist/maker will present public lectures, demonstrations, workshops or performances.
After an extensive nomination process and jury by committee, it is Centrum’s great honor to announce the awardees for the 2019-2020 Northwest Heritage Residencies. The selection committee was comprised of representatives from Centrum, Fort Worden PDA, the Marine Science Center, and the Jamestown S’Klallam tribe. We received forty-two applications and selected a total of six collaborative and individual artists and makers.
