Winter YAWP

pw-lighthouse

January 4-7, 2018
Fort Worden State Park, Port Townsend, WA

YAWP (Your Alternative Writing Program) was initially launched as a reaction to the branding, marketing, and career networking of AWP. We desired to create, instead, a retreat where we could write in community, live in our inspiring artist cabins, and focus deeply on our work while being inspired by optional morning freewrites to get the juices flowing.

Beginning as a spring experience only (to correspond to AWP) we then added an autumn retreat, and now a winter retreat.

YAWP is the perfect space for writers, with a blend of writing time, community time, and personal-retreat time. At each YAWP, we make breakthroughs in our work and connect with one another as writers–in the beautiful settings of Fort Worden State Park and Port Townsend.

Limited to 14 people total. You’ll find a private room in our cozy cabins, optional freewriting to join as you see fit, and the time, space, and inspiration we sometimes need to create new work.

Cost: $195. Have you published fifty novels? $195. Are you writing your first-ever poem? $195. Meals are not included: what happens is that some folks contribute together for communal meals; and some folks do their own meals in the ten kitchens provided; and some folks go into town for Port Townsend’s restaurants and cafes.
