Advisory: “Faculty Presents” classes closed to the general public this summer

With great appreciation for all fans of Centrum’s Jazz Port Townsend, executive director Robert Birman announced on June 9 that the weekday “Faculty Presents” classes during the Jazz Port Townsend week will be closed to the general public beginning this year.  “Word of mouth has created a growing demand by those-in-the-know who like to appear at Fort Worden to cue in line to see and hear our afternoon informal performances that are designed to showcase Centrum’s jazz faculty for our registered workshop participants.  Faculty Presents events are intimate in size and are designed to be educational and instructive.  Our generous faculty members perform at these events out of the goodness of their hearts with a goal of inspiring our participants to take creative risks and listen to music in new ways.  Last year we found ourselves turning away scores of community members who wished to share in the experience, but in keeping with our contracts with our faculty artists, Centrum will maintain a clear distinction between these events from those that are public, ticketed events.”   To enjoy the bold and stylish performances of our acclaimed faculty members, please join us for any of our dozens of public performances at Jazz Port Townsend!   Thank you!
