Dolfu R. Fernández began playing the violin in 1989 and has been an active part of the Asturian music scene for more than 25 years, being a member of the so-called “folk generation.” He has studied and researched traditional and folk music from Asturias, and is at the forefront of the resurgence of fiddle music from that region.

As a performer he has played with folk and folk-rock bands such as L’Andecha Folklor d’Uviéu, La Bandina’l Tombo, Mariluz Cristobal Caunedo, Au?, and many others. As a teacher, he has taught music classes in primary schools since 2007. From 2005 to 2015 he taught Asturian violin at the Villa de Xixon Traditional Music School and at the Avilés Modern Music Foundation. Since 2021, he has been coordinator of the violin courses held in L’infiestu in Asturias  within the Xornaes del Vigulín Tradicional.
