7pm: Wendy Call & Pam Houston

Wendy Call is co-editor of Telling True Stories: A Nonfiction Writers’ Guide (Penguin, 2007) and author of No Word for Welcome: The Mexican Village Faces the Global Economy (Nebraska, 2011), winner of the Grub Street National Book Prize for Nonfiction. Her work-in-progress, Sqebeqsed Stories, an interactive, map-based essay, is supported by 4Culture and Seattle CityArtist Program.

The recipient of a 2015 NEA Fellowship in Translation, her translations and essays on Mexican poetry have appeared in many journals, including Kenyon Review,Michigan Quarterly Review and Orion.

She teaches at creative writing at Goddard College and Pacific Lutheran University and lives in Seattle.

Pam Houston is the author of two collections of linked short stories, Cowboys Are My Weakness and Waltzing the Cat; the novels, Sight Hound and Contents May Have Shifted; and a collection of essays called A Little More About Me, all published by W.W. Norton.

Houston’s stories have been selected for the Best American Short Stories, the O. Henry Awards, the Pushcart Prize, and the Best American Short Stories of the Century. A collection of essays, A Little More About Me, was published by W.W. Norton in the fall of 1999.

She teaches in the graduate writing program at University of California, Davis.
