Mark Brooks

Mark Brooks is one of New Orleans’ premiere bassist. He is noted for his versatility vocally as well as instrumentally. Mark is a protégée of the late great Jazz Master, Alvin Batiste along with several of his close friends Branford Marsalis, Donald Harrison, and Henry Butler. Mark has toured and performed with an array of artists across genres such as Jazz, Blues, R&B, and Gospel. Mark has shared stages with greats such as Dr. John, the Neville Brothers, Henry Butler, Charles, and Aaron Neville, Lou Rawls, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and Fats Domino’s Band. Most recently Mark traveled on tour in Germany with the New Orleans Jazz Band of Colonge as the special guest (October 2022) and to Cape Cod with Dr. Michael White (August 2022). Mark also possesses numerous recording credits and has appeared on a multitude of national and local television and news shows, as well as festivals around the world. His most highlighted career moments was his opportunities to appear on screen and the recording soundtrack of Clint Eastwood’s film “The Bridges of Madison County” and his appearance in the biopic of Ray Charles’ life “Ray”. Mark also notes his appearance on “The Regis and Kathy Lee Show” also as a cherished career defining moment. Mark has also appeared in episodes of the HBO Special “Treme”, several episodes of the TNT series “Memphis Beats”, and PBS special “River of Songs”. Most recently Mark has added to his credits episodic series such as “American Horror Story”, Cinemax pilot “Banshee”, “NCIS New Orleans”, HBO’s “Roots” remake, “Interview with The Vampire”,Queen of the South”, and the much anticipated film “One Night in Miami”. In addition to his onscreen credits, Mark has also found great success behind the scenes as an emerging and much sought after on-set bass coach. His work with actors such as Larenz Tate for his role in the film “Girls Trip” and Josh Hartnett for his role in the series “Paradise Lost” has led to a myriad of other opportunities that Mark counts a true blessing and privilege for this added avenue to share his art. As Mark has navigated film and television over the years, he has most recently found success also in the licensing of his original song placement in series such as his two songs in the final season of “Queen of the South”.
