Bill Evans Dance Returns August 10, 2018

Dance legend Bill Evans first brought his summer institute of dance to Centrum in 1980. He and his dance company and teaching associates have returned many times over the years to teach and perform.

Evans and company will present an informal performance on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 7pm at the Fort Worden Chapel. Tickets are $10, cash only; doors open at 6:30pm.

The 60-70 minute program will include the following:

  • Blues for My Father, an iconic tap solo choreographed and performed by Evans, who was named one of the world’s three favorite tap artist by Dance Magazine.
  • See You Around, a humorous fusion of text and movement created by internationally-renowned choreographer Claire Porter, performed by Evans and Don Halquist.
  • Excerpts from Naturescape Unfolding, a visually stunning modern dance work choreographed by Evans and restaged by Don Halquist and participants in the 20th annual Bill Evans Teachers Institute. Participants include dance educators from throughout the U.S. who are attending Evans’ week-long intensive workshop.
  • Other works to be announced performed by artists participating in the workshop.
