About

Lloyd Buchanan’s musical roots run deep in Gospel and Blues. His love for the Hammond organ began early, playing alongside his mother in church. This foundation led him to formal studies at LaGrange College, where he honed his skills in jazz improvisation under the guidance of renowned pianist/composer Randy Hoexter and guitarist Trey Wright.

As a sought-after session player, Lloyd has contributed his talent to hundreds of recordings. His B3, piano, bass, and vocals have graced tracks recorded at the Loft Recording Studio and various other top studios across the Southeast.

Currently, Lloyd is touring the world with Brittany Howard. Over the past decade, he’s also toured with the Alabama Shakes, Oleta Adams, The Heavy, A7, and more. He’s had the honor of playing alongside icons like Tom Jones, Jools Holland, Joe, Bishop Rance Allen, and Jon B, just to name a few. Lloyd’s performances have been showcased on major platforms like BBC, Jools Holland, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show, BET, and many others.

An educator and clinician, he’s served as a jazz accompanist at LaGrange College and as a Guest Artist in Residence at Columbus State University. His work as an arranger and producer has been featured in commercials, video games, TV shows, and movies, including True Blood (Season 4 Finale), the 2013 ESPN NFL Draft, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. When he’s not on the road, Lloyd plays with his band, Cubed Roots, which was recently named one of the top acts to watch in the Columbus, GA area by ElectricCityLife.com.
