Biography

Carrie Dedon is the Seattle Art Museum’s associate curator for modern & contemporary art. She came to SAM in 2013, returning to her hometown of Seattle from Boston. She received her MA in art history from Boston University, specializing in modern & contemporary art and material culture, and a BA from Pomona College in Claremont, California. During her tenure at SAM she has curated the exhibitions Poke in the Eye: Art of the West Coast Counterculture (2024), Imogen Cunningham: A Retrospective (2021), Danny Lyon: Dissenter in His Own Country (2019), and Go Tell It: Civil Rights Photography (2016), among others, and assisted with numerous other modern & contemporary exhibitions.
