Pamela English

Gospel Choir

Biography

Pam English’s musical journey began at age three, when Pam began singing in the youth choir at Unity Baptist Church Detroit. Private piano lessons began at age 7 and she recorded her first album with the youth choir at age 9. Pam began playing for churches, directing and teaching choirs at the age of 10. This continued throughout high school, college, and well into her adult musical career. She catapulted the Cass Tech Gospel Choir from 1982-86, becoming the largest student-run organization in school history with 300 choir members. In 1991, she recorded with Michael Mindingall & Communion, leading the gospel hit single “Holy.” In 1995, writing and vocal production were her focus, and she landed her first song publishing deal, as co-writer of “You Encourage My Soul” and “Fly Away” on the female vocal group Virtue’s Get Ready album. This was the beginning of a blossoming music career. Pam has served as Worship Leader at Dunamis Outreach Ministries Detroit since 1998 and was the vocal producer and writer for the 1999 recording, “Tears to Cheers” with the Dunamis Praise Team, as well as the 2006 recording “Singing Out My Mind” with Pastor Reginald Lane, and traveled twice to London, England to perform. Her vocal production, recording, and songwriting extended to various artists locally and nationally, joining with super producers Tommy Walker/Mo’ Life Entertainment and J Moss/PAJAM and Milleniera Writers in Detroit, Michigan. In 2009, Pam recorded her first solo project entitled, “Real Good,” and can be found at digital outlets everywhere. Pam has worked, written, and produced music with various artists, including: Diana Ross, Kem, Tasha Page, Bishop Marvin Winans, Mitchell Jones & Fred Hammond, Myron Butler, Dorinda Clark-Cole, J Moss, Karen Cark-Sheard, The Nevels Sisters, Lexi, Darius Twyman, Charles Curry, Bishop William Murphy III, jazz artists Randy Scott, Demetrius Nabors and Daryl Beebe and more. Currently, Pam English is the President of Journey Music Studios in Southfield, Michigan, and has partnered with her musical contemporary Shirley Smith to form the Roses R’ Rich Collective. This collective focuses on writing and recording of original music, studio production, music workshops/conferences, and the development of vocal/choral training throughout the metro-Detroit area. Pam is the Minister of Music at Unity Baptist Church in Detroit and leads worship at Dunamis Outreach Ministries (Detroit, MI)) and Hope United Methodist Church (Southfield, MI). This journey is not blessed without God’s Hand moving in her life and the support of a wonderful family, which is why she continues to walk in her purpose, sing, write and publish the message of God’s love to the world.
