Fiddle Tunes and the 4th of July are an institution in Port Townsend, and Centrum’s “Fiddlin’ on the Fourth” afternoon show features musicians from across the continent.
The afternoon show takes place at McCurdy Pavilion, a World War I-era balloon hangar converted into one of the West’s most distinctive performance halls.

Joseph Decosimo
An impressively accomplished fiddler and banjo player, Joseph grew up in the Sequatchie Valley – a mountain area in the Cumberland Plateau near Chattanooga, Tennessee, known for its rich tradition of Old Time music. He has spent countless hours learning and mastering the tunes and styles of Tennessee fiddling legends, and is committed to keeping our nation’s musical heritage alive and vital.
Matt Kinman and Moses Nelligan
Matt is the troubadour’s troubadour –  traveling the country, singing songs and playing tunes for his supper. Matt’s played with  the Roan Mountain Hilltoppers quite a bit, and counts Bill Birchfield as one of his main fiddle mentors.  We’re glad to  welcome him and his down-home music to Fiddle Tunes this year.
Brian Marshall and Family—Texas-Polish
Texas-Polish dance band fiddler, Brian Marshall, is a fourth generation musician of Polish ancestry. He started playing music at the age of 7 and by his late 20s realized that an entire generation of Texas Polish musicians were disappearing and their repertoires with them. In response, he started recording himself and many of the older players to ensure that the music was not lost.
Riley Baugus—North Carolina
Riley is a renowned banjo maker who has shared his incredible playing and singing at  Augusta Heritage Festival and Augusta Old Time Week, Mars Hill College’sBlue Ridge Old Time Music Week, and Sore Fingers Week in the UK. When not teaching or building banjos, Riley can be found out on the road performing, playing with the Dirk Powell Band, with Kirk Sutphin, and with Ira Berstein, among others.
Dawn Beaton and Barbara Magone—Cape Breton
Dawn Beaton hails from Mabou, Cape Breton and has been playing fiddle and step dancing for over 25 years! Music has been at the forefront of her life, surrounded by it through an infusion from her parents, her relatives, and living in the vibrant community of Mabou. Barbara Magone played for dances, concerts, weddings accompanying such notable Cape Breton Island fiddlers as Buddy MacMaster, Carl MacKenzie, Cameron Chisholm, Theresa MacLellan and John Campbell. She has also made quite a name for herself in the Irish music community.

Special note: it is with great regret that we need to tell you that Curly Miller and Carole Anne Rose will not be able to make it to Fiddle Tunes, due to Curly’s health problems. Curly and Carole were originally scheduled for this show. Matt Kinman and Moses Nelligan are taking their place on the schedule.
