DUE TO THE COVID-19 CRISIS, THIS PROGRAM IS BEING RESCHEDULED

Sunday, April 26, 1-3 p.m.
At Madrona Mindbody Institute
Free, pre-registration required.

Explore the ways that the body can be used to express both historical and place-based stories.

Madrona MindBody Institute, Centrum and Alice Gosti (MALACARNE) welcome young people (Grades 9-12) to a two-hour conversation and movement/dance workshop looking at Fort Worden’s history and personal histories.

This is a dance class for anyone hungry to get their body moving. Whether graceful or groovy this class will strengthen your body, lift your spirits and invite your imagination. We will work with a broad variety of movement styles and cultures past and present. We will invent our own movement and learn from each other. This class is for all abilities and no prior dance experience is required – just a desire to have fun and learn though your body. In this workshop we will also be remembering, sharing and making up stories about Fort Worden.

Alice Gosti is an Italian-American choreographer, hybrid performance artist, curator and architect of experiences. Alice has extensive training in ballet, modern dance, experimental dance and performance art. She has thought a wide range of students in age and experiences. From professional dancers to non-dancers.
Gosti is a Centrum Northwest Heritage Resident.

All nationalities, all ethnicities, all religions, all genders and orientations, all abilities are welcome. No dance experience is required.

What to Expect: Alice will lead participants in a series of simple movement exercises designed for all abilities accompanied by writing/drawing prompts that will spark group conversations.
