Blues faculty John Greyhound Maxwell releases “Wagon of Tales”

John “Greyhound” Maxwell is an accomplished acoustic blues guitarist and singer-songwriter based in Port Townsend, Washington. Born and raised in Chicago, Maxwell developed a passion for blues music at a young age, inspired by legends such as B.B. King and Muddy Waters. He began studying slide guitar under the guidance of Johnny Long, a student of Homesick James, which deepened his connection to the genre. 

In August 2024, Maxwell released “Wagon of Tales,” a collection of his favorite songs recorded during live sessions at Rainshadow Recording in Port Townsend. The album features several special guests and reflects his deep appreciation for the blues tradition. 

Through his heartfelt performances and dedication to the craft, John “Greyhound” Maxwell continues to enrich the blues landscape, drawing audiences with his authentic sound and compelling storytelling.

Maxwell was a faculty member at this past summers Acoustic Blues.
