Port Townsend Film Festival and Centrum welcome award-winning Turkish filmmaker Pelin Esmer with her film, WATCHTOWER, January 24-26, 2014, part of the Caravanserai program introducing Western audiences to the Muslim faith using art as a common language.
Esmer’s first appearance in Port Townsend will be on on KPTZ 91.9 FM on Friday, January 24, during Phil Andrus’s show, “Tossed Salad” at 1:30pm.
- Friday, January 24 at 7 pm, WATCHTOWER will screen at the Maier Performance Hall at Peninsula College in Port Angeles, followed by a conversation with Esmer and film educator Bruce Hattendorf.
PORT TOWNSEND Lecture and Screening
- On Saturday, January 25, at 2 pm, Esmer will discuss the topic of women as artists in Muslim countries at the Jefferson County Library in Port Hadlock, with host Martha Trolin.
- Sunday, January 26, at noon at the Rose Theater in Port Townsend, WATCHTOWER will screen for a second time, featuring a conversation with Ms. Esmer and Bruce Hattendorf.
All events are presented free of charge, supported by The Peter Simpson Education Fund, PTFF, Centrum, Commander’s Beach House, PT Arts Commission, Jefferson County Library, Peninsula College, the Doris Duke Foundation, Arts Mid West and Caravanserai.
