Emerging Visual Artists Selected for New Centrum Residency

Follow six artists as they immerse themselves in new work exploring identity and place.

Centrum is honored to announce the juried selection of six emerging visual artists from the Pacific Northwest as its inaugural class in its new “Emerging Artist Residency” program.

Six artists have been invited to work in residence at Fort Worden State Park for a month, starting October 4. Chosen are, Hannah Cwiek, Mariah Tate Klemens, Frankie Krupa-Vahdani, Leif Lee, Morgan Ritter and Reilly Sinanan. A seventh artist, Dave Kennedy, was granted a two-week residency later in the year.

The artists selected all have in common a search for identity and place-whether challenging gender status, understanding issues of personal identity specific to culture or religious values, or challenging traditional power structures.

Centrum’s inaugural class will exhibit work at Port Townsend’s Gallery Walk in November at The Cotton Building in downtown Port Townsend. The Gallery Walk occurs from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 1.
