Centrum is thrilled to announce a performance by transdisciplinary artist duo Crasis as part of its In the Making residency program. Crasis (/krey-sis/ from the Greek κρᾶσις, “mixing”, “blending”) is a collaborative duo made up of Andy Davis and Anne Lukins. They use sculpture, performance, and video to engage with themes of transformation and human ecology. Drawing from science fiction, medieval futurism and personal mythology, Crasis is rebellion against the acceleration of ecological twilight.

While at Centrum, Crasis will present a performance of (De)monstro, a participatory ritual blending spoken word, music, sculpture, and large scale puppets. From a queer, systems focused perspective, (De)monstro honors destruction in service of life. Props, puppets and costumes are made from foraged plant matter, and salvaged materials. Each rendition of (De)monstro is created in collaboration with local artists, as well as local materials and environments.

Collaborating since 2020, Crasis has held residencies at Galveston Artist Residency in Galveston, TX and Stove Works Artist Residency in Chattanooga, TN. Crasis has performed and exhibited at venues in the US and abroad including A Leste Studio in Portugal, Vox Populi Gallery and Icebox Project Space, Philadelphia, PA, The Blaffer Art Museum in Houston, TX, and Yes We Cannibal in Baton Rouge, LA.

Centrum's Residency Programs and exhibitions are made possible through the generosity of Sally Warren & Jeff Jackson, Cathy Sarkowsky, Cat Clifford, The Chin Family Foundation, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, and numerous other granting agencies. We are very grateful to Washington State Parks and Friends of Fort Worden for their support of this project.
