LIZN’BOW Video Installation: Novelas de Niñas

Centrum presents a video installation by artist duo LIZN’BOW (Liz Ferrer and Bow Ty) during their In the Making residency. The installation offers a glimpse into Novelas de Niñas, a multimedia feminist reggaeton project set in the pop inspired universe Niñalandia, blending music, performance, and visual storytelling.

On view April 3 to 10, Monday to Friday, 12 to 4 p.m.
Building 305, North Gallery.

Produced by artist duo LIZN’BOW, Novelas de Niñas is a feminist reggaeton concert unfolding inside Niñalandia, a pop-heavy universe shaped by music, mass media, and collective fantasy. Part installation and part interactive theater, the work reconfigures familiar entertainment formats by placing femme, queer, and Latin performers at the center of the spectacle. Performed live by their reggaeton duo Niña, the show merges concert energy with video art, choreography, and direct audience exchange, with songs anchoring a structure that constantly shifts around them. What begins as a recognizable pop spectacle gradually mutates, through excess, humor, and heightened imagery, into something less stable and more revealing. Operating through a pro-pocalyptic lens, the performance treats collapse not as an ending but as an opening, using absurdity and amplification to crack open inherited narratives around gender, power, and success and to rehearse new forms of collective joy and agency.

LIZN’BOW (Liz Ferrer & Bow Ty) is an artist duo whose collaborative practice merges performance, installation, and technology to create immersive works within their expanding Niñalandia universe. Working across digital art, sculpture, music, and performance, their projects use humor and world-building to explore identity, connection, and power through queer and Latinx futurisms. Liz and Bow are recipients of a Creative Capital Wild Futures Award, NEFA Development & Touring Grant, Knights Art Challenge from the Knight Foundation, Franklin Furnace Award, PAM CUT Labs Fellowship, Locust Projects WaveMaker, Oolite Arts Ellies Award, LMCC Creative Engagement, Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Sundance Short Film Miami Intensive Fellow and more. Liz and Bow have been awarded residencies and fellowships at Macdowell, Headlands, Ucross, Elizabeth Murray Residency, Atlantic Center for the Arts, Knight Sundance Short Film Miami Intensive, Caldera, Squeaky Wheel, Mana Contemporary, Tempus Projects, ACRE, La Sierra de Santa Marta Residency in Colombia, and more.
