Open reception following the reading at Taps at the Guardhouse, across the street from Wheeler Theater. Food provided by Centrum and Taps. Cash bar with alcohol and nonalcoholic beverages.  

Gardens waking up, daffodils in bloom, longer days—April evenings are a perfect occasion for poetry. Come hear three unique and remarkable poets read their work: Alisha Cherry, from Portland; Luther Hughes from Seattle; and a return visit—she was here in 2024—the recently appointed poet laureate of Alabama, Jacqueline Trimble. Poetry lifts us up, tells deeper truths, restores us. Reminds us were not alone, and let’s not be. Let’s join together with old friends and new friends for poetry. Admission is free; donations gratefully accepted at the door.
