Party on!

Dear Volunteers,

As the festive season approaches after a two year drought, we want to make sure you don’t miss a thing, so here’s an update and a few changes to some of our events.

CENTRUM GALA

June 2nd at 7:30 pm is now set in stone for this year’s Gala.

This year it’s a little different as Centrum airs it’s first ever TV Special on Seattle NBC’s King 5 Evening show.  This will be broadcast live on the Centrum website which means that everyone can attend – just click on the link a little before 7:30 pm for the 30 minute special and stay online for the after party and post-broadcast event with host Laura Michalek and special guests.

Come and join in the fun and help us reach our Fund-a-Dream Scholarship goal of $100,000.  We have been offered a generous $50,000 match so please help us reach our goal by dontating here and we’d love it if you shared these links with others via email or your social media channels.  No need to wait until Gala night to donate – the donation link is up and running and we’re well on our way!  Track how we’re doing with our fundraising goal Donation Tracker.  Here we go, see you Thursday, June 2nd:

For those of you volunteering for any of these events, I’ll be sending out an email closer to the event time about arrival times for your shifts.

FORT WORDEN GUARD SHACK

Remember the Guard Shack renovation?  Well here it is in all it’s glory, ready for action.  If anyone’s interested in volunteering at the Guard Shack, please read the following and contact Brenda Davis-Fisher at bdavisfisher@gmail.com with your availability.  Here are the details – sounds like fun!

Friends of Fort Worden need volunteer ambassadors to welcome park visitors

This summer, the Friends of Fort Worden want to use the park’s renovated Guard Shack as a Welcoming Center for visitors. But they need enthusiastic volunteer ambassadors to do that at the new visitor information center!

Perhaps you and a friend or family member would like to tell people about what’s happening at Port Townsend’s state park! After all, it’s more than a fort!

Please consider volunteering to help visitors plan their days exploring and enjoying Fort Worden. The Friends can be flexible in scheduling you for weekend or even weekday shifts, whenever you’re available.

You would answer visitors’ questions about the park and provide park maps and useful program materials. You would also tell visitors about current activities organized by organizations located at the park, such as the School of Woodworking, Marine Science Center, and Centrum.

The Friends are planning volunteer orientation for the VIC ambassadors to support your knowledge of the park and your interactions with park visitors.

Jubilation!

For anyone concerned about a potential date conflict of the Centrum Gala with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – worry not.

Yes, June 2nd does also mark the beginning of Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign but celebratory events will continue over a very long weekend in the UK, until Sunday June 5th.  So lots of opportunities to tune in for the Jubilee pageant, star studded Platinum Party at the Palace (try saying that quickly after a  G’n’T or 2) , street parties, horse racies, beacon lightings, hog roasts to mention but a few.   Full details here https://platinumjubilee.gov.uk/events

New Music

Here’s the latest from Pharis (Artistsic Director of Voice Works) and Jason Romero

Looking forward to seeing you over the summer!
