String Quartets & Pianists: Chamber Music Workshop Deadline is April 17

Full tuition, room, board & travel scholarships await selected participants in Centrum’s 2018 Port Townsend Chamber Music Workshop., led by the Pacifica Quartet and Artistic Director Lucinda Carver. The workshop takes place June 10-17, 2018; the application deadline is April 17 2018.

Centrum will select two pre-professional string quartets and two pianists to receive full tuition, room, board and travel scholarships to this rigorous weeklong workshop coached by the Pacifica Quartet and Lucinda Carver. The week will conclude with public masterclasses and stage performances.

The GRAMMY-Award-winning Pacifica Quartet is recognized internationally for its virtuosity, exuberant performance style, and daring repertory choices. They are the quartet-in-residence at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. In 2017, the Pacifica Quartet was appointed to lead the Center for Advanced Quartet Studies at the Aspen Music Festival and School.

Lucinda Carver is Centrum’s Artistic Director for Chamber Music, and an acclaimed pianist, harpsichordist and conductor who has performed as soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Pacific Symphony and has appeared at major chamber music festivals.  Carver is a professor and vice dean of the Division of Classical Performance at the USC Thornton School of Music.
