‘DANCE This’ Connects Tomorrow’s Artists With Today’s

Starting August 11, 2019, DANCE This returns to Centrum to bring together young artists with professionals working in the field of dance today. A partnership with the Seattle Theater Group, DANCE This provides the opportunity for high school students to experience a wide range of dance styles and practice in a supportive yet challenging environment.

The passion that everyone felt for dance gave my daughter an environment where she felt free to really be herself. She made many friends who came to feel like a second family. And she returned home distinctly more confident and mature. I’m so grateful that she got to have this experience.”  – Parent of DT Camp participant

This year’s faculty includes Awal Alhassan (West African Dance), Prashanthi Chitre (Bollywood), Erick “Spider” Paul (Hip Hop), Kirsten Kinney (Ballet/Lyrical), Mashud Neindow (West African Drumming), Joelle Martinec (Jazz/Musical Theatre), and Ellie Sandstrom (Ballet/Modern).

STG’s DANCE This is a multi-faceted program that, in addition to this year’s camp at Centrum, includes DANCE This Intensive (one week, Seattle-based training program) and the 21st Annual DANCE This Performance (over hundred youth & adult performers featuring local and national artists) held in July at the Moore Theatre.

Join us in the McCurdy Pavilion at Fort Worden on August 18, 2019 for the DANCE This Camp Final Share Performance. Running from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., this performance will be the culmination of the weeklong hard work of all participants at the DANCE This Camp at Centrum. The performance is free, family-friendly, and open to all.
