Centrum and Seattle Theatre Group present DANCE This! Camp for high school students coming soon August 3-9, 2014, at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend, WA.  You can still sign up by registering  here. (Grades 9-12)

DANCE This! brings together technique, performance, and choreography, using the art of dance to learn about the world through culture.  In 2014, new artists are coming to share their work with high school age students at the camp.

A native of Brazil, Auxiliadora “Dora Oliveira” Newman (right) has performed and taught Afro-Brazilian dance for 30 years. Dora has learned a repertoire that ranges from Afro-Brazilian dance forms through jazz, ballet, and modern dance.

Teaching Jazz this summer is Christy McNeil. A graduate of Cornish, Christy’s energetic & passionate classes are best described as a hybrid of modern, jazz, and ballet technique.

Hip-Hop instructor Angelo Buelvahas been breakdancing since the age of 14 and dancing hip-hop since the age of 16. In high school he was captain of the Shorecrest hip hop dance team and studied and performed with Westlake Dance Center. He is also a member and co-choreographer for Kontagious Movement.

Returning to teach ballet for a third year is Ellie Sandstrom. A choreographer as well as a dancer, Ellie currently teaches ballet and modern to young adults and beyond at Velocity Dance Center and students at Northwest School in Seattle, where she is the Dance Department Chair.
