Merz Trio: Chamber Music | April 11

Check out what Lucinda Carver, Artistic Director for Centrum’s Chamber Music Series has to say about two exciting chamber events happening this year:

And now, a note from Gregg Miller, Chamber Program Manager:

Dear Centrum Chamber Music Lovers:

I cordially invite you to join us for our upcoming chamber music performance with Merz Trio, an online event on April 11 at 2:00 p.m. Not only are they exciting musicians who are quickly earning themselves a reputation as an ensemble to watch—and to listen to—but they represent the fulfillment of a vision Lucinda Carver, our Artistic Director for Chamber Music, brought with her to Centrum. Her goal, which we continue to embrace, was to make the following statement a reality: Centrum’s vital chamber music series exists to showcase the brilliant talent of many of the world’s finest classical artists along with the top echelon of the most promising young talents in the field today.

In 2016 a young cellist named Julia Yang attended Centrum’s Summer Chamber Workshop as a cellist. Three years later, as a member of Merz Trio, she helped them win the 2019 Concert Artists Guild Competition and Gold Medal from the Fischoff and Chesapeake International Chamber Music Competitions, some of the most prestigious chamber music events in the world.

We’re proud to be able to present Julia again, this time as a member of Merz Trio. I encourage you to listen and watch their performance. Lucinda will join them in discussion following the performance. Not only will you witness some excellent music-making, you can also take pride in knowing that you, along with Centrum, played a part in their success.

Sincerely,

Gregg Miller

Program Manager for Jazz, Choro and Classical Music
